Total random pop culture, or what could have basically amounted to an email to my sister

Two things regarding Project Runway, which is the most totally awesome summer filler television around.

1. Peggy, this is the first time they've ever had to design for women over a size 2. It was horrifying and awesome to see those fuckers squirm in order to make clothes for normal women. Michael Kors is always making this huge deal about 'designing for the female body.' There it is in it's full splendor, size 10 and all. Design like the wind, jackasses.

2. Did you notice the Orbitz commercial in the middle with the two women kissing? If you didn't, check it out someday. It's interesting. In that I barely noticed it until I actually noticed it, needed to rewind the DVR and confirm, that yes, two women were just kissing on a national commercial!!! Whoa.

That's really all I'm capable of right now. The Kid has totally started school and I think the news is mostly good. So, for now, it's all Project Runway and kisses.

Is that on Bravo? That's why they can get away with the commercials...

Really? It's actually a good show? I thought it was in the vein of "America's Top Model" or whatever the name of the show that ironically preceded VM on the UPN on Tuesday nights. Seems I've been missing out.

Glad the hear that The Kid is doing well in school.

oh, it's not in the vein of America's next top model at all. It has actually talented people who make clothes from scratch for whatever they decide is the week's challenge. So it's like reality tv visual 'art' kind of. I think it's fun.

Molly, I too am obsessed with project runway. It's such good TV.

Also Orbitz has been advertising to gay audiences for awhile now. google it. I'm proud of them.

alright,
it's late here.

Hey Moll - I finally watched the episode on dvr. I HAAATTE that Jeffrey guy. (Had to get that off my chest) Soo ... who are you rooting for??? I will wait for you to respond before I tell you who I am rooting for (don't want to influence you with my Big Sister Opinions - I know how susceptible you are to my influence). Yeah, right.

Diane - I used to think that too! Thought it was about the models and not the designers. This is the first season I've watched and I'm really enjoying it.

And the commercial - YEAH! Saw that. I even paused the dvr recording, rewound it, and played it again for the family (who were in the room, and just barely putting up with me controlling the television). I think C thought I was ultra weird for exclaiming "Hey! Watch this!" but oh well ...

I'm rooting for a Michael, Laura and Uli final three. Of those, I would be so very happy.

Given the way things have gone in the past two seasons, I think that Jeffrey guy will be around til the final because they always keep a villain around til the end. blech, producers. He was horrible to that woman's mom. It was really uncool, and his clothes have been fug.

*gasp* How am I missing Project Runway? It is seriously THE BEST reality show. Evah. And I'm *sniff* missing it!

Project Runway celebrates truly talented people, and for that I am very grateful. No TOP MODEL b.s.

If you notice, at the end of each episode, a blurb of text reveals that the producers have a strong say in who leaves each episode, not just the judges. So, yes, insufferable Jeffrey will be around to provide drama until nearly the end. BLECH. He is so dismissive, unwilling to learn.

Very interesting that the bottom two designers this last Wed. were the ones who had heavy women to design for. It's a challenge to dress as a plus size woman, and props have to go to designers who can embrace the larger woman's form and design beautiful clothes. It CAN be done. But you can't be disgusted by the larger woman, as Jeffrey was, or bored by them, as Robert appeared to be.

I LOVE PROJECT RUNWAY. It's my little pleasure after a tough day.

I'm also a HUGE fan of Project Runway! I've had a hard time convincing people that it's NOT the same as that dumb modeling show.

Mrs. Ris. -- I also noticed that the bottom two designers had heavy women....and that when the designers got to choose their models...the slimest women went first. Sad. Really Sad.
